Bouteille de vin rouge de l'aoc Châteauneuf-du-Pape la cuvée Domaine Barville.

THE WINE

Laurent Brotte's family-owned Domaine Barville, named after ancestors named Barville, is renowned for its balance, elegance and capacity for ageing. Domaine Barville 2020 features more advanced winemaking methods, including gentler handling of the berries. The roundness and freshness of this vintage are exceptional.

Robe - Ruby with hints of violet.

Nose - Powerful and complex. The nose is pleasant, with aromas of fresh red fruit, pepper and mint. Raspberry predominates, opening onto a floral, aromatic nose.

Palate - The wine is surprisingly round for its young age, with plenty of suppleness, freshness and elegant fruit. The Syrahs exude blackberry, white pepper and hints of menthol. The Grenache brings aromas of fresh raspberry and hints of fresh ginger. The texture is remarkably ample and velvety.

LE MILLESIME

2020 : The 2020 reds have an elegant suppleness that makes them particularly apt to be enjoyed young, without altering their ageing potential. 2020 is undoubtedly a well-balanced vintage, combining freshness and deliciousness.

  • LOCATION

Châteauneuf-du-Pape, between Orange and Avignon, Domaine Barville rouge is a 15-hectare vineyard.

    THE TERROIR

Domaine Barville covers some 15 hectares, comprising 7 parcels on two of the oldest and best terroirs to the west of the appellation. Red clay and rolled pebbles at "Pradel", and chalky limestone at "Beaurenard". The very warm climate and excellent exposure favor ripeness and concentration of the berries.

    VINIFICATION & AGEING

Each grape variety is picked separately by hand and transported rapidly in small containers to avoid compacting and oxidation. From the 2020 vintage onwards, this method will be even more respectful of berry handling. The wines are aged in French oak barrels (1/3 new, 1/3 one-wine, 1/3 two-wine) for the tannic Syrah, Mourvèdre and Grenache; the softer Grenache wines are aged in concrete vats and century-old oak foudres to preserve the fruit. Bottling takes place in March, after more than a year of ageing and light filtration.
